Trends Confirmed at Decosit Brussels

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 10/2/2006 12:00:00 AM

Brussels, Belgium — Velvets, flock technology used to create dramatic and sophisticated patterns, and a plethora of color choices were the favorites at Decosit Brussels.

There were no clear design directions, but rather a validation of trends that have been in the making for a year or so. Oversized designs, strong but not bold colors, and lots of stripes were among the main indications. Linens, especially in semi-sheers and sheer constructions; velvets, crushed, silky and thickly luxurious; silks in a variety of weights and weaves; and taffetas created much of the fabric design excitement.

In color, the entire range of reds to purples were standouts with important shades ranging from raspberry to plum to rose to raisin. Greens, with yellow casts, were often mixed with a range of purple shades.

And as a fresh novelty, Lurex in gold and silver colorings were used as decorative accents against wovens and velvets.
